Scout Centennial Celebrations

A Scout Centennial CCelebration was held today at National Scout Headquarters organized by Sri Lanka Queen and President Scouts Guild in collaboration with Sri Lanka Scout Association.
The event was to mark 100 years of 3 important events that took place 100 years ago in 1920.

The 1st World Jamboree, Appointment of Lord Baden Powell as Chief Scout of the World and the introduction of the song Gin Gan Goolie to the Scouts.
The Welcome Address and introduction was delivered by Mr. Sarath Matararachchi -National Program Commissioner.

The National Scout Media Unit made a presentation on the significance of the three events. Mr Janaprith Fernando, Deputy Chief Commissioner and World Scout Committee Member presented the Greetings of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement.
A Souvenir Cover and a Souvenir Badge was issued to mark the occasion designed and presented by Mr. Sanath Rohana Wickremasinghe Convenor and former President of the Guild.Gi gan goolie song was sung y all present which was followed by the Chief Guest Address by Major General Milinda Peiris – Chief Scout Commissioner.The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Mr Kamalnath Jinadasa President of the Guild
