Mr. Gamini Somathilaka has been appointed as the new National Training Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association with effect from 16th April 2022.
He succeeds Mr. Nanda Fernando who has resigned from this position and contributed enormously to bring in changes giving new dimensions for Training .
Mr. Gamini Somathilaka started his scouting career as a scout from Sri Sumangala College, Panadura and continued to become a Rover Scout. He has also been a Cub Scout Leader and Assistance Scout Leader of the same school.
He took up to professional scouting when he was appointed as a Field Commissioner of Sri Lanka Scout Association which position he held from 1981-1985.
Thereafter he was appointed as a Headquarters Commissioner in 1991.
He has also served as a Member of the Committee of the Council and Chairman of the adult Resources Committee in 2018.
He is a Senior Leader Trainer who has vast experience in Adults Leader Training, planning, Organizing, Counselling, Conducting activities at all levels.
He followed the Leader Trainer Course in Singapore organized by the Asia Pacific Regional Office in 1995.
By profession he is a Logistics, Supply Chain & Freight Forwarding specialist who has worked overseas in 07 different countries in Asia, Middle East and the African Region. With over 30 years of experience in Management & Administration by working in various multinational and multi-cultural environments.
