EASTERN PROVINCE ELECTRICAL SAFETY WORKSHOP BY PUCSL – SCOUTS

The Electrical Safety Workshop for Commissioners and scout Leaders of Eastern Province was held today 24 December 2023 at the Batticaloa Rest House conducted by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka as a joint project with Sri Lanka Scout Association.

The workshop is being held under the leadership of Mr. Amithan Karmegam, Asst. Chief Commissioner for North and East. The workshop commenced with the singing of National Anthem, followed by the Renewal of Scout Promise and lighting of the traditional oil lamp.

ACC Mr. Amithan Karmegam delivered the welcome address and welcomed the Chief Guest and all other guests and participants.

The Chief Guest Mr. Srithharan, Zonal Director of Education, in his speech said that workshops of this nature are essential to guide the young generation in the correct way. This workshop is in a very useful subject of Electrical Accidents. The workshop was conducted by Mr S Krishanath, Deputy Director of PUCSL along with Mr. M.M. Uthuma Lebbe and Mr. A.I.M. Imam, Electrical Assessors and Trainers of Vocational Training Authority and Tertiary Vocational Education.

Asst. Headquarters Commissioners Mr. S. Amalaraj and Mr. P. Sasikumar were present along with District Commissioners and Scout Leaders of Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Akkaraipattu-Kalmunai.

The scout leaders are expected to get back to their districts and train the scouts on the subject. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. V. Pratheepan, District Commissioner of Batticaloa.

At the conclusion of the workshop a fellowship Get Together took place with fun games and other entertainment for commissioners and scout leaders.
