The Chief Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, Attorney-at-Law Mr. Manoj Nanayakkara, met with a group of senior officials representing the Sri Lanka Police at the National Scout Headquarters on 18 February 2026.
This meeting followed a new initiative introduced by the Chief Commissioner to establish Police Scouting in Sri Lanka. The discussion was attended by several senior officials of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, including National Training Commissioner Col. (Retd.) Padmalal Perera, National Programme Commissioner Mr. Geeth Ramesh, International Commissioner Dr. Asanka Eriyawa, and Assistant Chief Commissioner (Administration and Finance) Mr. Sampath Kariyawasam.
Representing the Sri Lanka Police were Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (Training) Mr. H. L. C. Sampath Kumara, Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Jagath Seram, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Thalagala, and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Perera, along with several other senior officers.
In line with the Chief Commissioner’s vision for the development of scouting in the country, the establishment of a Police Scout Section is the outcome of preliminary discussions he held with the Inspector General of Police, Attorney-at-Law Mr. Priyantha Weerasooriya.
Following several initial discussions, an implementation committee consisting of senior officials from both organizations convened on 18 February 2026 to further advance this initiative.
It was agreed, as a matter of priority, to establish 160 Police Scout Troops in 160 schools across the country. This initiative will run parallel to the 160th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Police, which is scheduled to be
commemorated on 3 September 2026.

එදින ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ බාලදක්ෂ කොමසාරිස්වරු වන ජාතික පුහුණු කොමසාරිස් කර්නල් (විශ්රාමික) පද්මලල් පෙරේරා මහතා, ජාතික වැඩසටහන් කොමසාරිස් ගීත් රමේෂ් මහතා, ජාත්යන්තර කොමසාරිස් වෙයිද්ය අසංක එරියාව මහතා ,ජාතික ලේකම් එම්.ඉ.එස්.ජයසිංහ මහතා සහ සහකාර ප්රධාන කොමසාරිස් (පරිපාලන හා මූල්ය) සම්පත් කරියවසම් මහතා ඇතුළත් වූහ.
ශ්රී ලංකා පොලිසිය නියෝජනය කරමින් පුහුණු කටයුතු භාර ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්ය පොලිස්පති එච්. එල්. සී. සම්පත් කුමාර මහතා, නියෝජ්ය පොලිස්පති ජගත් සේරම් මහතා, ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ පොලිස් අධිකාරී තලගල මහතා සහ ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ පොලිස් අධිකාරී පෙරේරා මහතා ඇතුළු තවත් ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ නිලධාරීන් කිහිපදෙනෙකු සහභාගී වූහ.
ශ්රි ලංකා පොලිස් දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ 161 වැනි සංවත්සරය යෙදී තිබෙන 2026 සැප්තැම්බර් 3 වන දිනට සමගාමිව ප්රමුඛතාවයක් ලෙස, රට පුරා පාසල් 160ක පොලිස් බාලදක්ෂ කණ්ඩායම් 160ක් ස්ථාපිත කිරීමට යෝජනාවිය.
