The 169th birth anniversary of the Founder of the World Scout Movement, Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, also known as “World Scout Day,” was commemorated under the patronage of the Hon. Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, at the Sri Lanka Scout Headquarters.
Among those present at the occasion were the Secretary to the Prime Minister, Pradeep Saputhanthri; the Chief Commissioner of Scouts, Attorney-at-Law Manoj Nanayakkara; the President of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, Ransiri Perera; the National Training Commissioner, Colonel Padmalal Perera; along with several other Commissioners.
Every year on February 22, Scouts around the world—numbering over 60 million members across 200 countries—celebrate the birth anniversary of Robert Baden-Powell, the Founder of the World Scout Movement.

ලෝක බාලදක්ෂ ව්යාපාරයේ නිර්මාතෘ රොබට් ස්ටීස්ටීවන්සන් බේඩන් පවෙල් සාමිතුමාගේ 169 වැනි ජන්ම දිනය හෙවත්‘‘ ලෝක බාලදක්ෂ දිනය‘‘සැමරුම් උළෙල අගමැතිනි, ආචාර්ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය මැතිනියගේ ප්රදානත්වයෙන් ශ්රී ලංකා බාලදක්ෂ මූලස්ථානයේ දී පැවිත්විණි.
මේ අවස්ථාවට අගමැති ලේකම් ප්රදීප් සපුතන්ත්රී, ප්රධාන බාලදක්ෂ කොමසාරිස් නීතිඥ මනෝජ් නානායක්කාර, ශ්රී ලංකා බාලදක්ෂ සංගමයේ සභාපති රන්සිරි පෙරේරා, ජාතික පුහුණු කිරීමේ කොමසාරිස් කර්නල් පද්මලාල් පෙරේරා මහත්වරුන් ඇතුළු කොමසාරිස්වරුන් රැසක් සහභාගි වී සිටියහ.
ලොව පුරා රටවල් 200 ක මිලියන 60 කට අධික ජනගහනයකින් යුත් බාලදක්ෂයන් විසින් ලෝක බාලදක්ෂව්යාපාරයේ නිර්මාතෘ රොබට් ස්ටීස්ටීවන්සන් බේඩන් පවෙල් සාමිතුමාගේ 169 වනජන්ම සංවත්සරය සෑම වසරකම මස පෙබරවාරි 22 දින සමරති.
