His Excellency Mr. Andalib Elias, High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association (SLSA), Attorney-at-Law Mr. Manoj Nanayakkara, at the National Scout Headquarters on 5 March 2026.
During the meeting, the High Commissioner and the Chief Commissioner recalled with appreciation the longstanding cordial relations and close cooperation between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. They also acknowledged the strong and enduring ties of friendship between the Bangladesh Scouts and the Sri Lanka Scout Association, which have contributed to fostering youth engagement and people-to-people connections between the two countries.
Discussions focused on further strengthening collaboration between the two national Scout organizations, including the promotion of joint programs, participation in international Scout activities, and the expansion of youth exchange initiatives.
His Excellency the High Commissioner also reaffirmed the continued support of the Bangladesh High Commission in partnering with the Sri Lanka Scout Association in organizing the forthcoming International Mother Language Day commemoration scheduled to be held on 13 March 2026. The event is expected to be graced by the Hon. Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. (Mrs.) Harini Amarasuriya, as the Chief Guest. Both sides underscored the importance of encouraging the participation of a large number of Scouts in this important commemorative event.
His Excellency Mr. Andalib Elias reiterated the readiness of the Bangladesh High Commission to continue extending its support towards further strengthening and advancing the Scout movement in Sri Lanka.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere and was viewed as a meaningful step towards further enhancing cooperation between the Sri Lanka Scout Association and the Bangladesh High Commission.
