Mr. J. R. Pangilinan Regional Director of WOSM//APR paid an official visit to Sri Lanka Scout Association
on 25 – 26 February 2023.
He arrived at Sri Lanka Scout Association headquarters on Saturday 25 Feb. and was accorded a Guard of Honour by the scouts followed by the hoisting of flags.
Chief Commissioner Mr. Janaprith Fernando welcomed the Director along with the President of SLSA Mr. Srinath Gooneratne in the presence of all Scout officials.
Prof. Zin Bidin Acting Chief Scout and Chief Scout Commissioner of Malaysia was also present for the occasion.
A discussion was held with Vice Chancellor of the Kotelawala Defence University Major General Milinda Peiris and former Chief Commissioner on finalizing the negotiations on starting a Basic management Course for scout leaders.
Mr. Pangilinan also declared open the Scout Archives and Museum. at National Headquarters.
The Chief Commissioner along with the key officials of SLSA and Senior Commissioners had detailed discussions on the activities being carried out and future development of scouting.
President Mr. Srinath Gooneratne, Chief Commissioner Mr. Janaprith Fernando, Chairman Mr. Ransiri Perera and Deputy Chief Commissioner addressed the meeting.
Mr. Pangilinan commended Sri Lanka Scout Association for the activities done and congratulated in obtaining the highest percentage of 85.7 per cent in WOSM Assessment GSAT Audit concluded in January.
He also visited scout events held in two districts Panadura Horana Scout District and Wattala Jsela Scout District.
Prior to his departure, A Dinner was accorded to him in recognition of his visit at the City Hotel in Colombo.
