‘The Scouting in New Communities’ project was launched at the Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya under the patronage of Chief Commissioner Janaprith Fernando on 27th October. The project is sponsored by Messengers of Peace of WOSM and will be conducted in 10 selected districts to re-energise scouting and increase membership. Mr Ruwan Ariyaratna Asst Chief Commissioner conducted a workshop and Chief Commissioner delivered the keynote address and made some presentations. The meeting was attended by Nuwara Eliya Zonal Education Director Mr Lasantha Abeyratna, Deputy and Assistant Education Directors, School Principals, and Regional Plantation Company Managers. Several important decisions were taken to immediately start scouting in several schools. Senior ADCs and ADC Admin Mrs Disna of Nuwara Eliya proposed the Vote of Thanks and took the leadership in Organising the event.
