BON VOYAGE CEREMONY FOR SRI LANKA SCOUT CONTINGENT TO TAIWAN

A Bon Voyage Ceremony was held on Wednesday 3rd July 2024 at National Scout Headquarters for the Sri Lanka Contingent to the 12th National Jamboree of Taiwan.

The Jamboree will be held from 10th – 16th July – 2024 In The Tainan Province of Taiwan. Sri Lanka Contingent comprises of 24 members of 16 boys and 02 girls, 03 members for IST . 03 leaders. The contingent leader is Thilina Sandaruwan from Wattala Jaela district, Assisted by Prasanna Kulasinghe , scout leader of Isipathana college, and Devika Nilanthi CALT from Wattala Jaela District Training Team.

The Scouts would be camping at Tsou- Ma-Lai Farm with scouts of Taiwan and twelve other countries. During the Jamboree the Scouts would have opportunity to learn and explore global development of Science and technologies, with regards to SDGs, leadership development, adventure education, and many other activities.

Sri Lanka contingent will host other scouts for Sri Lanka day at Jamboree. Serving Sri Lankan tea with special traditional foods. Upon completion of Jamboree the scouts would be taking part in the home stay program. Before returning to Sri Lanka the scouts would have an opportunity in exploring the Taipei city and will be back on 19th July.

The Chief Commissioner Attorney at Law Mr. Janaprith Fernando handed over the Sri Lanka Flag to the Contingent leaders.

Deputy Chief Commissioner Mr. M.F.S. Muheed, International Commissioner Dr. Rajeeva Pieris, Asst. Chief Commissioners Mr. Prabath Kularatne, Dr. Manjula Sahabandu, Ms. Chandrani Fernando, Ms. Renuka Silva and Mr. Amithan Karmegam.were present along with several other Commissioners, scout leaders and parents of scouts.
Mr. Lakshan Perera, HQC delivered the welcome address followed by the Chief Commissioner’s advice and guidance to the Jamborites.

HQC Mr. Abdul Mawahib delivered the Vote of thanks.
