Sri Lanka Queen’s And President’s Scout Guild 2020-09-26

Defence Secretary Major General Kamal Gunarathna (Retired) on Saturday emphasized the importance of scouting in character building, as he noted “once a Scout is always a Scout” to make an impact in life which supports to achieve the mission in life.

He was speaking at the 20 th Anniversary Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Queens and Presidents Scout Guild held last Saturday at the Sri Lanka Scout Association Auditorium.

The Defence Secretary further noted the importance of the character building antidote for everything where the present young generation is entangled in drug related offences and crime related activities.

Maj. Gen. Gunaratne gave some interesting and humorous accounts of his life as a scout and reiterated the spirit obtained during his scouting life to overcome the challenges during his career in the Army.

He praised the Scout Movement for the great contribution it made to the younger generation to build a good society and responsible citizens, for a better tomorrow.

The Special Guest of Honour at this occasion was Chief Commissioner of Sri Lanka Scout Association Maj. Gen. Milinda Peris who was also a distinguished past Scout President from Nalanda College, Colombo.

The participation by most senior King Scout living M. M.Senarathna, who is 91-years-old was another special feature of the event.

The function was organised by the President of the Sri Lanka Queens and President Scout Guild Kamalnath Jinadasa and Organising Committee.
