DISTRICT ROVER SCOUT CREW INAUGURATED IN KILINOCHCHI

The Rover Scout Advancement Ceremony of the newly formed Kilinochchi District Air Rover Crew was held today 9th December 2023 at the J/Chavakachchery Hindu College. Mr. M.F. S. Muheed, Deputy Chief Commissioner was the Chief Guest. Squadron Leader Janaka Wijesinghe representing Group Captain M.P.S. Marapperuma Commanding officer of Sri Lanka Sir Force, Iranaimadu, Mr. S. Amalaraj, Asst. The Headquarters Commissioner and Mr. N. Sarveswsran, Principal of Chavakachchery Hindu College were the Special Guests.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Mr. N. Jegatheeswaran, ADC Admin. Mr. Premkumar DC Kilinochchi in his address explained about earlier Rover Scouting position in the district and has now started again to activate Rovering.
The Advancement Ceremony of 22 Rovers took place with the RSL Mr. S. Sivaharan presenting the badges, Mrs. Angasan presented the badges for Rovers girls while the District Commissioner presented the District badges and Mr. Kumanan ADC Rovers presented the Census badges. The scarves were presented by the Chief Guests and Special Guests.

Special Guest Squadron Leader Janaka Wijesinghe in his speech said they would support the Air Rovers and also make arrangements to visit their facilities. Special Guest Mr. S. Amalaraj explained in detail about Rover Scouting and requested the Rovers to take responsibility and carry out their duties successfully.

The Chief Guest Mr. Muheed said that youth should be brought into scouting to guide them and discipline them to lead a good life. He also gave an overview of Scouting in Sri Lanka and in the world and requested to produce scouts of high standard. Mr. Sarveswaran Principal of Chavakachchery Hindu College said he will see that scouting is made active in the school. The Guests were presented with mementos to mark the occasion.

Former DC of Jaffna Mr. S. Thevaranjan also participated The event concluded with a vote of Thanks by the
Rover Mate Mathushihan. Tree tree-planting project also took place to mark the occasion.
