A contingent of 176 Scouts, Unit Leaders, International Staff Members and Contingent Management Team members are currently in SaeManGeum, South Korea attending the 25 World Scout Jamboree together with 43,000 participants from 155 member countries. There have been several media and social media reports on the current Heat Wave experienced in South Korea and difficulties faced by the jamborites. Several parents, members of SLSA and friends of scouting have raised concerns and inquired on the welfare of the Sri Lanka Scouts. The International Commissioner Dr Rajeeva Peiris and I together with our team of adults are also camping at the Staff Hub on site and are closely monitoring all participants of Sri Lanka at the 25 WSJ. We wish to assure you that the Korean Government at the highest levels and the Korea Scout Association are taking all steps to prevent any harm and danger to jamborites and have increased all services including medical, drinking water, AC shelters (buses), rehydration salt, ice cubes etc. We wish to inform our parents, leaders, colleagues in Sri Lanka that there is no reason to panic and that all Sri Lankans at the 25 WSJ are in good health and participating in all activities and also Organising our own events as well. Thank you to all those who showed concern and contacted us.
