PUCSL – SRI LANKA SCOUTS NORTHERN PROVINCE WORKSHOP ON ELECTRICAL SAFETY

The Northern Province Workshop sponsored by public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka together with Sri Lanka Scout Association on Electrical Safety for Scout Commissioners and leaders was held today 23 December at Bharathy Hall, Kilinochchi.

The workshop is a Training of Trainers (TOT) to enable the Scout leaders to train other leaders and scouts and make them aware of the the dangers of Electrical accidents.

The workshop is being held under the chairmanship of Mr. Amithan Karmegam, Asst. Chief Commissioner (North & East). Chief Guest for the occasion was the Government Agent Mrs. Rupavathy Ketheeswaran. The program commenced with lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the Chief Guest, other guests followed by the National Anthem and Religious Observances. The Scout Promise was renewed by all present.

Welcome Address was delivered by Mr. Amithan Karmegam, ACC. He welcomed the GA for her presence and support and Mr.. Jayasooriyan Asst. Director PUCSL, Mr. V. Prashanth and Mr. Kokulan, facilitators of PUCSL and all others for their participation.

Chief Guest Mrs . Rupavathy Ketheeswaran said it’s a good thing for the first time such a workshop is taking place and thanked the Scout Districts of Northern Province for their participation.

Mr. A. Jayasooriyan, Asst. Director of PUCSL conducted the workshop and highlighted the electrical disasters and safety measures that should be taken. Headquarters Commissioners Mr Ajith Kumar, Mr. Abdul Mawahib and Asst. Headquarters Commissioner Mr. S.Amalaraj along with District Commissioners of Point Pedro, Kankesanturai, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya , Mannar and Kilnochchi were present.

The workshop was hosted by Kilinochchi District under leadership of Mr. Premkumar District Commissioner. A Fellowship Get -Together followed at the end of the workshop with presentations of Entertainment by the Districts. Mr. Abdul Mawahib Headquarters Commissioner proposed the Vote of Thanks
