PUCSL – SCOUT. ASSN. ELECTRICAL SAFETY AWARENESS WORKSHOP

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has sponsored provincial workshops on Electrical safety with Sri Lanka Scout Association.
The Western Province Workshop is being held today 23 December 2023 for Commissioners and Scout Leaders as a Training of Trainers (TOT) which is to spread down to all scouts.

The Opening Ceremony of the workshop was held in the morning under the leadership of Mr. Janaprith Fernando(Attorney at Law) Chief Scout Commissioner. Prof. Nimal de Silva, former Chief Scout Commissioner was the Chief Guest.
The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Upul Ranasinghe, Headquarters Vommissioner.
Chief Commissioner thanked the PUCSL for selecting the Scout Association to spread the message of Prevention from Electrical disasters. He highlighted the number of fatalities due to electrocution and requested the leaders present to educate the scouts on prevention of such incidents.
Chief Guest Prof. Nimal de Silva said how useful because he was a scout to succeed in life in various fields. He appealed to the scout leaders to spread the message to scouts in a practical way to educate scouts. Deputy Director of PUCSL Dr. Nilanka Sapumaga gave a detailed explanation on Electrical system and the disasters faced by people due to electrocution. He also explained the functions of the PUCSL.

Asst. Director Anushika Kumburugama, Deputy Chief Scout Commissioner Mr. M F. S. Muheed, Resource Persons of PUCSL, district Commissioners of Colombo, Homagama and Negombo, Asst District Commissioners and leaders representing Scout districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Wattala-Jaela, Moratuwa-piliyandala, Panadura -Homagama, Kalutara, Negombo participated.
The workshop will end in the afternoon.
