PRESIDENT’S SCOUT MATHUSIGAN TO SWIM THE PALK STRAIT

Thavendran Mathusigan President’s Scout of St. Michael’s
College, Batticaloa is to swim the Palk Strait of 30 kilometres from Danushkodi in India to Talaimannar in Sri Lanka on 4th May 2023.

Swimming has been his hobby from his young days and taken part in many meets and won first places and Medals.
Later he started swimming in the sea and now ready to perform this task.
He did a project titled Plastic Free Ocean for his President’s Scout project to create awareness for fishermen.

He is expected to start the swim at 1.00 a.m on 4 May and expected to reach Talaimannar in about 10 hours.

He called over at National Scout Headquarters to get the blessings of Chief Commissioner Mr. Janaprith Fernando, Deputy Chief Commissioner Mr. M.F. S. Muheed and other Senior Commissioners who were present on 27 April.

District Commissioner of Batticaloa Mr. Pratheepan has made elaborate arrangements to receive him at Talaimannar on completion of his feat.

Sri Lanka Scout Association extends the fullest support and gives it’s best wishes to Mathusigan.
