IMPORTANCE AND THE VALUES OF SCOUTING STRESSES ADMIRAL PRIYANTHA PERERA, FORMER NAVY COMMANDER AND PRESIDENT’S SCOUT AT AGM OF SLSA

The Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Scout Association was held yesterday 28th March 2025 at the National Scout Headquarters newly renovated Auditorium.

The Chief Guest was Admiral Priyantha Perera, former Navy Commander and a President’s Scout.

The Chief Guest was welcomed on arrival by the Chief Commissioner Mr. Janaprith Fernando, President of Sri Lanka Scout Association Brigadier J.P.A. Jayawardena, Chairman of Committee of Council, Mr. Ransiri Perera and Deputy Chief Commissioner Mr. M.F. S. Muheed.

The Scout Band of President’s College, Kotte accompanied the Chief Guest to the main entrance of headquarters.

Hoisting of Flags and lighting of traditional oil lamp and garlanding the statue of Lord Baden Powell was followed by the meeting being called to order by the President.

National Anthem, Religious Observances and Renewal of Promise took place.

Welcome Address was delivered by President Brigadier J.P.A. Jayawardane.

He welcomed everyone and briefed about the activities for the year.

Annual Report for 2024 was presented followed by the Adoption of Audited Statement of Accounts.

Chief Commissioner Mr. Janaprith Fernando in his address outline the activities carried out during the year with National level important activities of Jamboree, Kiddoree, Rover Moot and Clean Sri Lanka project.
He said they were all successfully held due to the team work of all Commissioners.

The Chief Guest Admiral Priyantha Perera in his address complimented the Association for the healthy financial situation and recalled his scouting days at 28th Colombo open Scout where he became a President Scout and the adventurous activities of camping, hiking and many other activities he participated.
He explained the values of scouting and the what he gained through scouting has helped him in his career.

President announced the newly elected Office bearers for 2025-2026.

The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks by the new secretary Mr. Sujeewa Jayawardena.
