225 SCOUTS RECEIVE PRESIDENT’S AWARD CERTIFICATES

The highest achievement for a scout is the President’s Scout Award. A number of requirements have to be completed to qualify for the Award.

225 scouts from all parts of Sri Lanka received the President’s Scout Award certificates from the Governor of Southern Province Hon. Lakshman Yapa Abeyawardena at a colourful ceremony at the Galle Town Hall on 2nd June 2024. Addressing the gathering Hon. Governor said that parents should get their children to take up to co-curricular activities such as Scouting instead of only to be with academic side with book learning.
Scouting helps them to face the challenges in life.

The Chief Commissioner Mr. Janaprith Fernando in his Welcome address and Remarks explained the purpose of scouting and the activities conducted by the Sri Lanka Scout Association and has been able to increase the number of scouts.

President of the Sri Lanka Scout Association Brigadier J.P.N. Jayawardena, Deputy Chief Commissioner Mr. M.F S. Muheed, Asst. Chief Commissioner and Organizing Commissioner Dr. Manjula Sahabandu, District Commissioner for Galle Mr. Upul Kalansuriya were present along with Asst. Chief Commissioners, Headquarters Commissioners, Asst. Headquarters Commissioners, scout officials, scout leaders and parents.

F.G. Stevens Day was also. Celebrated by paying floral tributes to Mr. Stevens who Introduced Scouting in Sri Lanka. The Environment Program was also launched for the Environment Day. Dr. Manjula Sahabandu, the Organizing Commissioner delivered the Vote of Thanks
