SCOUTS CONDUCT EYE CAMP IN NUWARA ELIYA

A successful Eye Camp was conducted by the Sri Lanka Scout Association jointly with the Nuwara Eliya District Branch on 13 July at Sri Piyatissa Model School Hall, Bamabarakelle under the patronage of Chief Commissioner Attorney at Law, Mr. Janaprith Fernando along with the District scout Officials.

195 Spectacles collected by two Students Sahana and Janina Krishjanathan from USA, were tested and strength marked. The Doctor & staff of Eye Section of Nuwara Eliya General Hospital tested the eyes during the camp and 126 less fortunate were able to obtain their spectacles free of charge.

Chief Commissioner thanked Sahana & Janina who were present and actively served at the camp, for their efforts in providing the spectacles.

He further thanked the Director of the National Eye hospital, Director of Nuwara Eliya Hospital, Assistant District Commissioner and Principal of the School Mrs. Disna Abeykoon, other ADCs and Scouts who were present to render their services.

He also thanked the Hony Treasurer of SLSA Mr. Dinesh Manawadu, Assistant Headquarters Commissioners Capt. Kithsiri Jayatilaka and S. Amalaraj for the assistance in Colombo. This project was initiated by the Chief Comissioner Mr.Janaprith Fernando & Mrs Avanthi Fernando. The transport and lodging also was through their courtesy.
