Changa Samaraweera a scout of 1st port of Colombo Sea Scouts called on the Chief Commissioner Mr. Janaprith Fernando and handed over a box of Scout Memorabilia belonging to him and his elder brother Late Tilak D. Samaraweera who was also a Queen Scout of 1st port of Colombo to be kept in National Headquarters Archives.
His brother Tilak has also been a member of the Contingent that went to England in 1957 for the Golden Jubilee Jamboree of Scouting.
Changa J Samaraweera has toured Pakistan in 1960 and participated in the 3rd International Scout Jamboree of Pakistan.
He has attended the Golden Jubilee Jamboree of Ceylon in 1962 as a Junior Scout.
The Memorabilia collection included some rare items not seen by the present generation of scouts, Sea Scout uniforms, belts, logbooks, badges etc.
Both brothers’ Queen Scout parchments signed by Queen Elizabeth II are the most interesting of the collection.
Chief Commissioner who is a friend of Changa Samaraweera thanked him for handing over such memorable items and assured it will be displayed in the archives which are being set up.
