“Save Nation - Save Life” is a National Level Community Service Project organized by Sri Lanka Scout Association in Collaboration with Health Promotion Bureau to increase public awareness on prevention of COVID-19 disease. As a member of the world’s largest educational youth movement, Sri Lanka Scout Association takes the leadership to convey important messages to community using different modalities to save the nation at timely needed situation.
This project will provide various opportunities for the scouts to Stay Home, Stay Safe and actively participate in scout activities. Project contains different activities
- COVID-19 Poster campaign
Different posters made with the help of Health Promotion Bureau, World Health Organization and UNDP Sri Lanka will be shared among scouts to increase their awareness on COVID-19 disease.
- WHO Safe Hands Challenge
Scouts of Sri Lanka Scout Association will be joining Safe Hands Challenge which was a campaign launched by the World Health Organization in the wake of 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic, to increase awareness on proper hand washing to prevent COVID-19 disease.
- Earth Hour – 2020
(Raise your voice for nature challenge)
This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sri Lanka Scout Association together with World Wildlife Fund and Earth Hour Sri Lanka will be celebrating Earth Hour- 2020 digitally by organizing a district level video story competition “ RAISE YOUR VOICE FOR NATURE CHALLENGE”. The main objective of the event is to raise awareness for energy consumption and effects on the environment during COVID-19 Pandemic
- COVID-19 Chat Bot
Awareness on COVID-19 current situation and prevention is vital for scouts and general public. Thus “Save Nation – Save lives” project aims to increase awareness among scouts and community by introducing CHAT BOTs which goes with modern technology using Facebook and WhatsApp messengers.
- Myth Busting Challenge
Scouts of Sri Lanka Scout Association will be joining Myth Busting Challenge to increase awareness on COVID-19 disease by giving myth busting messages to general public with the help of audio-visual media.
- JOTI – Special Edition
Project will be conducted under supervision of Chief Commissioner of Sri Lanka Scout Association - Major General Milinda Peiris, Deputy Chief commissioner of SLSA and Member- World Scout Committee Mr. Janaprith Fernando and Assistant Chief Commissioner (Media & PR) & NSO Messengers of Peace Coordinator Mr. Prabath Kularathna.
Project team will be led by Dr.Asanka Eriyawa, Assistant Head Quarters Commissioner and Graphic designing and Social media platform handling will be done by Mr. Chamara Sandaruwan Kaldera (Assistant project leader). Project team comprises of all Messengers of Peace National Core team members and District Messengers of Peace Coordinators.
