The Annual GILWELL REUNION organized by the Training Department of the Sri Lanka Scout Association was inaugurated on Saturday 18 June 2022 at St Thomas’s College, Matara with a large number of gilwellians ( wood badge holders) attending from all parts of the country despite the present situation in the country with the presence of the Chief Scout Commissioner Attorney at Law Janaprith Fernando as the Chief Guest.
The Chief Guest was received by the District Commissioner of Matara Mr. Indika Prasanna followed by a grand yell by the Cub scouts.
The Opening Rally was held with the hoisting of the Flags followed by National Anthem and Religious Observances.

Floral tributes were paid to Lord Baden Powell founder of the Scout Movement.
Mr. Indika Prasanna delivered the Welcome address.
National Training Commissioner Mr. Gamini Somathilake addressed the gathering explaining details about GILWELL REUNION.
Wood badge beads were presented for those who completed in 2020 by Former NT’C Mr. Nanda Fernando.
Beads were presented by NTC Mr. Gamini Somathilake to those who completed in 2021 and 2022.
Certificates were presented by the Chief Commissioner.
The Chief Commissioner addressed the gathering and said our scout leaders should be able to face he challenges we are facing today in the country and overcome such challenges and be an example to others.
Cultural presentation took place at the conclusion of the ceremony.
Mr. Srinath Gooneratne President of Sri Lanka Scout Council, Mr. M. F. S. Muheed, Deputy Chief Commissioner, Vice President Mrs. Mallika Gunaratne, Ast. Chief Commissioners Mr. Prabath Kularatne and Ms. Chandrani Fernando were present along with other Commissioners from from National Headquarters and Districts.

The GILWELL REUNION will conclude on Sunday 19th June with a sight- seeing tour.
