Chief Commissioner Mr. Janaprith Fernando visited the Batticaloa Scout District on Saturday 13th November 2021.
He was given a rousing welcome organized by the District being his 1st visit after assuming duties as Chief Commissioner.
The meeting was held at the District Secretariat
District Commissioner gave the Welcome Address and welcomed the Chief Commissioner, the District Secretary Mr. K. Karunaharan, officials of the District, Principals, Scout leaders, and scouts.
DC further said this time there are also scouts who are from the far away villages as well as the town.
The District Secretary in his address appreciated the presence of the Chief Commissioner. He further stressed on the importance of the President Scout Award.
.Chief Commissioner commended the District officials for organizing the event, especially in an open area environment.
He requested the parents and School Principals to see that there are more students in scouting.
He also requested to continue their scouting after the President Award.

Scouts boys and girls received their President Scout Awards from the Chief Commissioner.
Later Chief Commissioner visited a distant border village “THIKKODAI” were five girls won the President Awards. The village welcomed the Chief Commissioner in a very traditional cultural way.
The District Secretary and the Zonal Director of Education Ms. Sujatha Kulendrakunar agreed to allocate a building for the District scout headquarters.
The Assistant District Commissioners were actively involved in organizing the event
