“Pothaka Randahara 2017” – Cub Scout Program

“Pothaka Randahara” a specially designed program for Cub Scouts to improve their skills through fun activities and find the real joy and importance in Cub Scouting was organized and conducted well at the R. Premadasa International Stadium, Colombo with the active participation of 2250 Cub Scouts & 250 Cub Scout Masters & Mistresses island-wide. The theme of the program was “Ran Daharayi, Sondhuru Lowayi”

This special Cub program was declared open by the Chief Guest Hon. Lasantha Alagiyawanna, the Deputy Minister of Finance & Mass Media & Mrs Alagiyawanna. The Chief Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association Professor Nimal De Silva, President Mr. Srinath Goonerathne, Chairman of the Committee of the Council Mr. Ransiri Perera, Deputy Chief Commissioner Mr. Janaprith Fernando, National Training Commissioner Mr. Sarath Godakandarachchi and many other Senior Commissioners and officials participated at the opening ceremony.

It was a new concept and practical approach by Sri Lanka Scout Association to give the required knowledge for Cub Scouts, aged 7 – 11 years, through Fun activities, Games and 10 knowledge bases covering the syllabus of “Gold Star”, which is the highest Award for a Cub Scout. The training for the cubs who are visiting the 10 Bases, were given by Cub Scout Masters or Mistresses as base leaders.

Mrs. Wathsala Wijewickrema Asst. Chief Commissioner (Cubs) has organised this Program successfully for the first time. From next year it will be organised at Provincial and District level for the convenience of Cubs.
